my second attempt making some chinese almond cookie
Ingredients:
3 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup almond grinded to powder
1 tsp salt
6 oz (170g) butter
6 oz (170g) shortening
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 ounce (30ml) water
1 tablespoon almond extract
topping:
24 almonds
1 large egg
Directions:
1) Whisk flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, almond powder together
2) Cream butter with sugar and 1 egg, almond extract and water. Mix until smooth.
3) Combine dry and liquid ingredients together
4) Shape dough in 1 inch balls, almond on top and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
5) Beat egg lightly then paint on the dough with egg
6) Bake 350F for 20 minutes, or until golden brown
*you may prefer to use unsalted butter instead*
